A jednak!

Becky Bernstein udowadnia, że wszystko jest możliwe, a patrząc na jej zdjęcia na Instagramie, hasło multitasking nabiera wyższego stopnia zaawansowania.

When I was pregnant with the twins I tried to find resources for feeding/nursing twins and I couldn’t find a lot. I also tried not to have super high expectations. If it worked out, it worked out (but of course I was worried about latching, possible NICU stays, having enough supply, etc). And the saying goes, “fed is best” and we know twins are a different beast. . . My first born, Jax, changed me in so many ways. I thought I would be that perfect mom nursing her baby for a year and yada yada. That did NOT happen. I have always been fortunate to have an oversupply but that didn’t matter because Jax developed an oral/feeding disorder when he was a few months old and a terrible vomiting disorder and nearly ended up with a feeding tube. It was the most stressful year of my life by far! And he’s completely fine now and grew out of this thank god but it changed my mindset about expectations. . . My second child, Layla, I nursed until she weaned herself. I pumped while at work obviously but she was a dream in that sense. Then with the twins, I tried to have no expectations. Everyone’s feeding journey is so different which I find so interesting what parents end up working out. For me with the twins, I breastfeed them half of the time and the other times they get bottles of pumped milk. With 2 other kids running around to take care of, and needing sleep myself, this is what works for us and luckily my husband is amazing and does the late night/early morning bottle feeds. . . To answer few questions I have gotten about tandem nursing them: I get them both on the nursing pillow before latching either of them. When we first started, I would latch the more difficult to latch baby first so I could use both hands. Now I just first latch whoever is screaming the most 😬. Then I alternate sides every feed because I have one side that produces more. . . I’m happy to answer any questions! I know everyone’s babies and feeding journeys are different and we are all just doing our best to get these babes fed however we can! ❤️

Some people have asked if/how I’ve been able to workout after having the twins. I was worried after I had them I wouldn’t be able to with the 4 kids, especially now since Jax and Layla aren’t in school. But I’ve built it into my day and I’m making it work. I’ve never really belonged to a gym so the quarantine hasn’t affected that part but since we live in sunny Florida, I am able to run outside every day. I will take the big kids in the double BOB running stroller - usually with 7 million snacks and iPads - and Chad will watch the babies (have to plan strategically between feeds bc I’m nursing). And I also try to sneak in some HIIT/strength training workouts at home a few days a week which can be challenging with all of the kids running around. . . This is not an ad but I am a home workout connoisseur and I’ve been through hundreds and hundreds of at-home DVD’s and workouts over the years and HoyPro is by far my favorite. There are thousands of different workouts and levels, different muscle groups, etc and he kicks my ass without being annoying and the time flies. And this is all quarantine friendly! You just need some hand weights, but if not, a lot of the workouts are just body weight. @millionairehoy . . . Working out honestly makes me feel like I can parent better. It is my therapy and stress relief and I look forward to it every single day. Especially during this crazy time, we need some endorphin release!

Zobacz koniecznie!

(Tandem nursing post 3/3) . ✳️ How long did it take me to be able to feed them by myself (without my husbands help)? The triple feeding I mentioned before made this really tricky bc I would nurse then one would fall asleep so I would hand that baby to my husband to try and wake her up, then I had to get my pump set up and bottle feed them so it definitely needed extra hands. Just tandem feeding them - I got the hang after a few feeds - you just really have to set up everything beforehand to do it solo. . . ✳️ Am I able to tandem nurse when I’m out? Well now that we are quarantined I don’t have this issue 😂. But before that, yes I was. However, I would have to bring the nursing pillow (@mybrestfriend ) with me because it’s near impossible for me to tandem without it and I don’t like nursing the babies separately because it’s too time consuming. . . ✳️ What is your tandem nursing routine, latching, positioning, switching sides? I always use football holds. I get both babies (unlatched) on the pillow first. In the beginning I would latch the harder to latch baby (Avery) first bc you really need both hands. Then the other baby. Now I can latch them at the same time. I don’t switch sides during a feed but I DO switch sides every feed bc I have one side that produces more. . . Tandem nursing definitely seems daunting in the beginning but it’s a huge time saver once you get it down! I hope this answered some questions and feel free to ask anything if I didn’t answer it here. Hope this helps!
